Member guide
You have an invitation from your church, or you are about to. Here is everything you can do once you are in.
Accepting your invitation
Your church admin adds you to the directory and HomeField emails you a link. Open it, choose a password (at least 10 characters with upper, lower and a number), and you are signed in. If the link has expired, ask your admin to resend it.
Did not get an email? Check spam, and check that your church has the right address for you. Only your church admin can change it.
Signing in
Go to homefielddirectory.com/login. Sign in with your email and password, or with Google if your Google account uses the same email address. Tick Stay signed in on your own phone to stay signed in for 30 days.
Forgotten your password? Use the reset link. Signed up with Google and want a password too? The same reset link sets one.
Installing on your phone
The directory is a website that behaves like an app. Once you are signed in:
- iPhone (Safari): tap the share button, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android (Chrome): tap the menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app.
Your church's logo becomes the icon. There is nothing to update; it is always the current version.
Finding people
Browse by family or by person, jump to a letter, search by any part of a name, or filter by a tag such as "Choir". Tap a family to see everyone in it and the shared details; tap a person to see theirs.
Birthdays and anniversaries
The birthdays view shows this month's birthdays and wedding anniversaries, and lets you look ahead to any month. You will only see the details people have chosen to share.
Updating your details
Open My profile. You can change your names, birthday, mobile phone, allergies, photo and any fields your church has made editable. Most changes publish immediately. Changing your first or last name waits for an admin to approve it, and you will see it marked as pending until they do. Some churches choose to approve every change; if yours does, you will see the same pending marker on everything.
To change your email address, use Change email on your profile. We send a confirmation link to the new address, and nothing changes until you click it.
If you are head of household
You can also edit your family's shared details: family name, address, home phone, anniversary and the family photo. Family name and address changes wait for admin approval. You cannot edit other adults' personal details; they do that themselves.
Choosing what other members see
On your profile, under Privacy, switch off any of these to hide them from other members: birthday, mobile phone, email, allergies, photo. Heads of household can hide the family address, home phone, anniversary and photo. Your name is always visible, and church admins always see everything so they can run the directory.
Privacy changes take effect immediately and never need approval.
Children in your family
Children appear on your family page. They never get an account. Their birthday is hidden from other members unless your church has chosen to show it. Only you (as a parent in the family), the head of household, or an admin can enter their information. When a child turns 18, your church admin will be asked whether to make them an adult member.
Notifications
The bell shows when an admin has approved or rejected a change you made, or when another church asks to add someone from your family to their directory (see the FAQ on the one-church rule).
Exporting
You can download the directory as a CSV or a PDF containing what you are allowed to see. It is your church's information; please treat it with the same care you would a printed directory.
