Lost access to your email
You changed jobs, closed an old account, or simply cannot get into the mailbox any more, and now you cannot reset your HomeField password. Here is what to do.
Why support will not change it
An email address is the key to your account. If we changed it because someone emailed and asked nicely, anyone could take over any member's account by writing a convincing message. Your church admin, on the other hand, knows you. They can look at you across the foyer, or ring a number they already have, and be sure.
So our policy is firm: HomeField support never changes a member's email address or resets an account at a member's request.
What to do
- Contact your church admin in person, by phone, or from any email address they recognise. Tell them your new address.
- The admin opens your record in the admin app, changes the email, and clicks Resend invitation.
- You receive a new invitation at the new address. Set a password and you are back in. Your record, photo and privacy settings are exactly as you left them.
If you do not know who your church's admins are, ask at the church office. The person who told you about the directory almost certainly knows.
If you are the admin
If you are a church admin and you have lost access to your own email, another admin at your church can change it the same way. This is one reason we recommend every church has at least two admins.
When support will step in
Only when a church has no reachable admin at all: for example, the sole admin has moved away and nobody else has admin rights. In that case, write to support@homefielddirectory.com from a church address if you can, and tell us the church's name and your role. We will verify you through the church by other means, which takes longer, and then set up a new admin. We will not simply take the word of an email.
A note on Google sign-in
If your account is linked to a Google account and you can still get into that Google account, you can sign in with Google even if you cannot receive email. Once in, change your email address from your profile; the confirmation goes to the new address.
